Moving inter-state: Getting your cars to your new city

Once you have made the decision to move interstate to a new city there are plenty of things to think about like, finding a new house or apartment to live in, schools for the children and of course your furniture removals. There's also your family cars. We've put together a few tips on getting your car/s to your new city.

Take a good old fashioned road trip. Pack up the family and start making tracks. Take the scenic route and visit places and attractions you have always wanted to see along the way. You will want to map out a route to take so you can organise motel or camp ground accommodation and calculate approximate petrol costs. Never drive tired, take regular breaks, keep your headlights on and take turns driving.

This will be a popular option for many, especially if you are relocating from one side of the country to the other. There are many different car transport companies, so get several quotes and always check reviews. Check in with your interstate removal company for any referrals to companies they trust and use on a regular basis. You will also want to make sure all insurances are valid and up to date and cover your vehicles while they are in transit.

Some people may find selling your car and purchasing a new car in your new city to be the best option. You may even decide you don't need a car at all (at least to begin with) especially if you are moving to a new city with world class public transport such as Melbourne and are living in inner city suburbs or the CBD.
